Hearing aids

Of course, it is our hearing aids that are the biggest draw for customers. We offer many different styles of hearing aids—we recommend talking to your doctor about the type that is best suited for you and your lifestyle, as well as the severity of your hearing loss. Some hearing aids are smaller and less noticeable, while others are designed for comfort over style. Some examples of the options we have available include:

  • Receiver-in-the-ear:
RITE hearing aids are inside a shell that rests behind the ear. They have a wire that directs sound into the ear canal. These hearing aids are comfortable to wear, but generally not ideal for severe cases of hearing loss.
  • Behind-the-ear:
BTE hearing aids are kept inside a curved case that rests behind the ear. They are ideal for a variety of degrees of hearing loss.
  • In-the-canal:
ITC hearing aids are less visible and generally more cosmetically appealing than any of the other options you’ll fin don the market. They are not, however, meant for children.
  • In-the-ear:
ITE hearing aids are generally custom tailored for each wearer’s ears, as they must fit the shape of the outer ear. They are quite powerful and capable of treating severe cases of hearing loss.
  • Completely-in-the-canal:
CIC hearing aids are smaller, custom made and more discrete. They are able to treat mild to moderate cases of hearing loss, but are not meant for children.

Services

We also provide a variety of hearing-related services. For example, we offer diagnostic hearing evaluations for both children and adults. These evaluations include a series of tests designed to evaluate your hearing and communication. Some of these tests include acoustic reflex tests, speech in noise tests, real-time hearing instrument mapping and tympanometry, which tests the functionality of the ear drum.

We also offer balance testing services. When a person suffers from hearing loss or inner ear issues, balance can become a problem, as can dizziness and other issues. The test includes a caloric examination, in which the audiologist lets both warm and cool air flow through your ear
canal while you’re having a conversation. The audiologist tracks and records your eye movements during that time.

These are just a few examples of some of the products and services you can expect when you pay a visit to Harbor Audiology & Hearing Services Inc. We hope you’ll help us celebrate the 20th anniversary of our hearing aid store in Pierce County, WA in style. We look forward to welcoming you to our store soon!
